This is Problem Solving and Decision Making, University of California, Irvine. Data is put into different categories and then it's ordered starting with the most problematic. My father, my mother in law seems like elderly people, they eat too slow and so their food gets cold.

If we look at the cause and effect diagram, it identifies issues that cause our problems versus a Pareto chart, a Pareto chart is going to prioritize those and put those together in a little different visual format. Cause and effect diagram is going to say well, we have something that kinda looks like a fish bone here. I don't know if you've heard about some of the people who drive Priuses and are trying to get the most gas mileage out of it they possibly can.

So, let's talk about those three things, cuz they're going to all give us some good information that will help us focus in on where to look to solve some of our problems. Let's say this is a class in biology that happens to be at a Big Ten university, who accepts every student that applies from that state. Or, it might focus some of those people that are having a hard time going to school and taking care of their classwork instead of gee, it's my freshman year, I think partying's kinda fun.
