You have finished the speech she received a polite applause.
Now why.
Well it’s not over my recommendation.
Don’t rush out of the room.
Don’t try to hop the first plane out of there.
Don’t leave the conference to go relax by the pool as much as that might be an attraction for you.
Instead work the room.
Now you might not be a politician but you do want to communicate your ideas.
So stay in the room because people may want to ask you questions.
They may have been too intimidated to ask a question in their language or to try to ask in English in
front of people but they may be perfectly comfortable talking to you one on one and that may be the
moment where you really connect with people.
You’ve answered their question sometimes you can say Ah now I get it.
It also just creates a much stronger personal bond.
People will trust you more they’ll like you more they’ll give you higher evaluations if that’s relevant
to where you are speaking so stay in the room meet as many people as possible shake hands be friendly.
Ask them questions and let them ask you questions because this is still an opportunity for you to communicate.
You’re still in the spotlight for that particular room.
You’re the biggest celebrity there so you might as well enjoy your celebrity status while it last.
So talk to people in the room.
Be the last person out of the room and you’ll make the most out of this speaking engagement.
