This lesson is on the hyphen hyphens.

Join two or more words together.

This is often done to avoid confusion or ambiguity and they do not have spaces around them.

Hyphens are used when writing numbers also use when writing.

Double barrelled surnames and hyphens are used to show a range of values and hyphens are also used to form compound adjectives so could some examples when writing numbers.

To clear up this uncertainty or in writing double barrelled surnames so if the father is called for example John Brown and the mother is called Susie Johnson and they kept their names when they married or didn’t marry then that child could be called Peter Johnson brown or brown Johnson It doesn’t matter which way around it’s purely a matter of taste.
