Welcome back! Here we will learn how to put all the rest of the fingers on the bow. so first let’s repeat the steps from the previous video. Let’s shake the right arm, bring it up, turn it a few times, bend the thumb and put the pencil on the tip. Now, let’s add the middle finger, touching somewhere around the first joint. This will make a circle, and should also lock the pencil there. The moment you put the middle finger, make sure you’re not squeezing, but gently supporting the pencil on top of the thumb. This frame, between the middle finger and the thumb, is in fact all the “holding” involved in the bow hold. The rest of the fingers are balancing and resting on the bow. The index finger simply rests on the left side and ring and little fingers are on the right and the little finger seats on top of the stick. Very good! Let’s do it again! Hold the pencil with your left hand, relax your right arm, bring your hand up, turn it a few times and stop when the thumb is under the fingers. Bend it slightly and bring the pencil on the tip of your thumb. Push down with the pencil, find a position of the thumb which fees very well supported. Add the middle finger on top, touching around the first joint. Check that you are not squeezing, but gently supporting the pencil on the tip of the thumb. The index finger touches the pencil right in the middle between the first and the second knuckle, and the ring finger - with the first knuckle. The little finger is curved and seats on top of the stick. Again, if you feel you need a little more practice with this, go back and do it a few more times, before continuing.
