Wedding Speech Feedback from Others

If you’ve done what I’ve asked which is not just practice your speech on video but to do it watch it and to keep doing it until you like it.

You’ve got to be feeling pretty confident now pretty comfortable.

There are no surprises you know exactly how you’re coming across.

Now I do want to give you one more advance tip.

You don’t have to do this but if you really want to go that extra effort because you think well children grandchildren will be watching this for decades.

You really want to make something memorable that stands the test of time.

Here’s what I’d recommend.

You know that video that you just did that you worked on it was maybe your second or third or maybe 15th draft.

I want you to take that video and e-mail it to your fellow groomsmen or Bridesmaids or a few other select family.

Not everyone is going to be at the wedding you don’t want to spoil it for everyone but find ideally at least three people people you respect.

Send them your video and ask them for feedback because they may say wow this is great.

That’s fantastic.

You’ve raised the bar for all of us.

I better practice my own speech more but they may say know what you’re referencing something there.

I don’t think people are going to get.

I think it’s going to go over their head it’s too much of an inside joke or they may say there’s such a better example given the time when we’re all at summer camp and that they may have a much much better story for you.

So these days it’s very simple to do 20 30 40 years ago it would’ve been very expensive hire a production crew get these big bulky tapes fed.

You don’t have to do that anymore.

You already have the video on your computer or your cell phone just email it to two or three friends get feedback and just don’t say what you think.

Ask them what do you like.

What do you not like.

What do you think people will remember from this and what do you think I could do to improve this.

Ask those for very specific questions and filter then do that.

And one or two things will happen either you’ll get lots and lots of positive feedback and that will further boost your confidence or they’ll give you some very specific feedback and you can improve your speech and that will give you a better speech and more confidence as well.
