دوره GRE Test- Practice & Study Guide ، فصل 15 : GRE Quantitative Reasoning- Numbers and Operations
دربارهی این فصل:
Review the elements of numbers and operations to prepare for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Video lessons and quizzes incorporate elements of this part of the quantitative reasoning section in a simple and clear manner.
GRE Quantitative Reasoning: Numbers and Operations - Chapter Summary
Polish your numbers and operations skills with our GRE practice lessons. These videos explain fundamental mathematical principles that appear on the quantitative reasoning portion of the GRE. Areas covered in these lessons include:
The instructional videos in this chapter teach about numbers-based quantitative operations. In addition, they contain quizzes that allow you to assess your understanding of the lessons’ content. Discrete concepts are presented in brief, individual videos to help you understand these mathematical basics and succeed on the GRE.
GRE Quantitative Reasoning Objectives
The GRE, administered to students to evaluate their readiness for business or graduate school, encompasses a quantitative reasoning section that accounts for a little over 30% of the total exam. Our video lessons on numbers and operations discuss topics you’ll encounter on this portion of the GRE. Videos address such concepts as:
Identifying and understanding types of numbers
Performing basic equations with whole numbers
Working with decimals and scientific notation
Understanding absolute value
Answering word problems
Establishing the least common multiple in a set of numbers
Determining the greatest common factor in a number pair
In the GRE’s quantitative reasoning segment, you will be asked to solve problems in areas including basic arithmetic and algebra. Questions appear in both multiple-choice and open-ended formats. This means you may be asked to choose one or more correct options from a number of provided answers or discern a numeric answer and enter it into a response box.
این مجموعه تلوزیونی شامل 11 فصل زیر است:
Learn all of the different types of numbers- natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, and real numbers. This video lesson teaches you how to classify any numbers you come across.
There are four basic mathematical operations- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These four operations are used in a wide range of everyday skills and are the fundamental blocks of arithmetic.
Watch this video lesson to learn how you can solve word problems by following this 3-step process. Learn how to visualize your problem so you fully understand it. Then learn how to write and solve your equations.
Scientific notation is a special way of writing numbers so they are easier to work with. This lesson will define scientific notations and show some examples of how to convert numbers from standard notation to scientific notation and back.
When we're talking and comparing numbers, we often don't care whether its positive or negative, just how big it is. This is often called the magnitude of a number and we find it by taking the absolute value. Learn all about it here!
Watch this video lesson to learn how useful the number line can be when you need to compare two different numbers, be they whole numbers, decimals or even fractions. Learn how to plot these numbers on the number line so you can compare them.
If the factors of a number are the different numbers that you can multiply together to get that original number, then the greatest common factor of two numbers is just the biggest one that both have in common. See some examples of what I'm talking about here!
The prime factorization of a number involves breaking that number down to its smallest parts. This lesson will show you two different ways to discover the prime factorization of any number.
The least common multiple of two numbers is the smallest number that can be divided evenly by your two original numbers. See some examples of what I'm talking about here!
Even if only 99 out of 100 people need to know how to work with ratios, the odds that they'll be useful to you are very high. In this lesson, we'll practice performing calculations with ratios and proportions.
Percents are your friend. Think of all the cool things percents do for you. They save you money, and they tell you how well you are doing in school. Learn how you can solve problems with percents in this video lesson.
