Presentation of Zotero- aggregate references

Hello, everyone and welcome to our additional video on how to use Zotero. One of the most useful videographical tools you can have. There is lots of software and we put several examples in the references of this lecture, but we will focus here on this one as it is free and easy to use. First things first, let’s go to the Zotero website where as you can see you can download it now. While it is downloading we strongly advise you to create an online account. Another video will highlight the possibilities given to you through this account. Here we will just focus on how to put all your references in one place. Once downloaded and installed open the software and we’ll see how to add references to your Zotero. As you can see we’re already using Zotero, so our library is already filled with references. Here you have the library, the different folders for your research and documents. On the right side, you have all the relevant information that Zotero can gather about the document, from author to summary of the document or the HTML link. Let’s create a new folder As you can see it’s completely blank. To do the next step you will need to install the add on on your browser. Be advised that the most stable version of it runs on Mozilla Firefox. Therefore we will use this browser. You can there the Zotero icon on the top right of the screen. You can now add some references. To find references we refer you to the video of the 2.3 section how to build your own literature review. To add it on your page just click on this icon, here. If the document is nautical, the icon will be a sheet. If it is a book then it will be a book. Here you see that it is done and where it is saved in the last folder you opened on Zotero. Here you are. One last useful possibility of Zotero is that you can add the PDF of the article to the library. Thanks to our library we have access to G store where we can download the article. Here it is on the desktop. Select it and drag it on your reference of the article in Zotero. You can drag the article and voila. Notes that if the PDF is free of access it will be automatically downloaded and added to your library. Another thing, you can double click on the file and it will open, and there you can take notes on it and consult them when you want. Don’t forget that Zotero creates its own folder in your hard drive. You can delete the downloaded PDF file. Thanks a lot for watching.
