Independent Conclusion Sample

In this video, we’re going to conclude the sample essay that we’ve shown in the previous lesson videos. This is going to be the conclusion for both structure A and structure B of the independent essay. Let’s see that sample question once more. We are talking about magazines and newspapers and, whether they will be replaced by the internet, and I disagree.

I think that magazines and newspapers will continue. So, what are the parts of our conclusion? First, we will restate the main idea. Of course, this is with different words. Do not use the same sentences again. Then, and this is optional, of course, you can reference reasons or the opposite opinion.

I will do this in my conclusion, but you may not have time on your conclusion on test day. And finally, a great way to end the essay, the real-world result of the argument. And here are some possibilities for that sentence. I’m going to use this one in my essay personally, but you can use any of these, or some other way to give the real-world result.

Now, let’s take a look at my conclusion. Here’s my first sentence. As long as people want print media, news companies will continue to sell it. All right. This gives my main opinion that news, print media will continue, companies will sell it, which means it will still exist.

It combines that opinion with the reason, because people want the print media. But, the focus is on this part of the sentence. This is the important information that I want. Next, although new technology might grow and physical copies might become less popular, we should not expect them to disappear. All right.

Notice this very important word, although. It tells me that this information here, disagrees with my more important information here. This is the opposite side, the other opinion. I’m once again, mentioning other people’s ideas and then coming back to my idea.

And here’s my final sentence. And as a newspaper reader, I, personally, take comfort in that. So this, tells the reader that I am a newspaper reader. I like newspapers, I like magazines. So, I’m happy about this.

I take comfort. It means, I’m not uncomfortable about it. I’m not nervous. I feel more relaxed because I know that print media will continue. This I, personally is a nice way to finish the essay. Of course, there are other ways you can do it.
