Laser Pointers Should Be Used Like This

What’s the most effective way to use a laser pointer when delivering a PowerPoint presentation.

We’ve all seen people do that they’ve got their little red laser they’re saying ignore all this over here look over here and columns 17 where you can see four over it’s the number for us and they’re doing this little circle thing in your eyes you’re going like that don’t do that.

If there’s something you want to put a spotlight on that you would put your laser on give that thing its own slide.

You’re not using real paper it doesn’t cost any more money just give it its own slide if you’re using a laser typically that means you have a really really awful slide.

I do not recommend that you use lasers in a PowerPoint presentation.

The only time where it may be appropriate you’re sure you’re showing some form of architectural drawing something very visual and there’s something critically important that maybe people don’t see right away but they need to see it in context of everything else on the screen.

That case in that case only I would use the laser.

But ninety nine point nine percent of the time when I see someone using a laser that’s not what they’re doing if they’re just being lazy and they’re saying hey I don’t care about your time I put every single data point from the last six years on this slide that I know you’re not going to read and not going to care about and I want to talk about this data point create a slide just for that data point.

Take your laser and retire it.
