I want to wish you success with every single PowerPoint presentation you ever give for the rest of your life.
Here is one tip on how you can make each one a tiny little bit better when you’re done delivering a powerpoint and you’re talking to more than two people.
Someone will typically come up as well.
Good job today.
Most of us say oh thanks.
Thanks a lot.
Appreciate it.
Don’t just do that.
Instead say thanks.
Tell me what do you remember.
What stories.
What slides Do you remember.
Now I do that all the time.
And if someone says Well T.J. you know you were just so compelling professional dynamic.
You’re real proud great.
That means I did a horrible job.
Now I know my speech was a complete flop.
My slides were no good unless my audience can tell me specific slides they remember and the messages associated.
It didn’t work.
So it’s not enough to just test in advance on your own video it’s not enough to test with other colleagues before the presentation.
Use every single PowerPoint presentation you give for the rest of your life as a mini focus group to make the next one even better.
It may be that the last minute you put in one slide one particular image you weren’t even sure you can use it.
You kind of threw it at the last minute and it turns out everyone who came up to you afterwards.
That’s the slide they remember and it was the message you cared about.
And it worked.
Well now you know let’s use that slide every time we’re presenting on that message.
That’s how you can continue to grow and grow and grow.
And your PowerPoint presentations will just get better and better.
Good luck.
