Brainstorming Your Message Points To Get the Best

Brainstorming is the easy part.

Now comes the hard part.

Ideally if you’ve looked at all these different categories all those criteria you may have 10 20 30 you may have 50 possible message points few guarantees in life but one guarantee I will give you or your money back for this cause if you go into a typical media interview and it’s not live it’s going to be an edited interview.

You’re not going to communicate 50 ideas 50 ideas are not going to get into the final story.

You’re going to get two or three ideas likely.

Those are the only quotes you’ll get in.

So somebody got to be the editor of this story.

So you’re going to be you or the reporter I want it to be you.

And that’s why it’s critically important you use your judgment looking at all these 10 20 30 50 ideas and narrowing it down to just three not three main points and twenty seven sub points.

Guess what.

There is no such thing as a sub point in a media interview or for media messaging.

Or why is that there’s a sub point in the book.

There can be a sub point in the speech.

There can be a sub point that PowerPoint.

Why not in a media interview.

It’s because a reporter can talk to you for an hour two hours two days and put just one quote of yours in the final story.

Was that a sub point.

Was it a main point.

Well that was your only point.

And that’s what’s different about preparing for the media is you lose control over the context.

So you have to prepare in a very different way.

And that’s why I think you’ve got to get rid of this whole notion of sub points and just think in clear terms of three main points.
