Finally I would like to wrap up my visitation with you over these four modules with another important part in helping you with your career in management and that is building a global network. So we're gonna focus on leading, the fourth function of management. It's about eliminating risk, it's about monitoring and measuring to make sure our plan achieves our organizational goals.

Great to have you back to UCI’s Career Readiness Program hosted by UCI Extension. So this is the last of the four modules on the fundamentals of management. In today’s module, I would like to explore with you, introduce you to four themes. We have talked previously about the functions of management. So I’d like to focus on the last two functions of management. And that is leading, leading and five, controlling. I would also like to visit with you about some new theory, some new concepts, the evolution of leadership. And then looking at a control process, and how it is aligned with goals and customer satisfaction. Finally I would like to wrap up my visitation with you over these four modules with another important part in helping you with your career in management and that is building a global network. So we have seen this overview of the five functions of management before. And I’m, we’re not going to focus on that again in a lot of detail. But the five functions are planning and organizing and staffing. And the focus today is gonna be on leading and controlling. Leading. So we’re gonna focus on leading, the fourth function of management. Leading is about communicating vision so that it is aligned with our goals. It’s about setting and achieving goals with people who want to follow us. It’s about inspiring and motivating individuals. It is about aligning people with the goals, this is about creating momentum. And the fifth function of management is about control. It’s about eliminating risk, it’s about monitoring and measuring to make sure our plan achieves our organizational goals. It’s about if the plan gets off track, how do we identify and take corrective and measures? And how do we evaluate whether we achieved our organizational goals, our goals? And did we satisfy customers?
