There we have it the four pillars up to this point.

We’ve talked a lot about ideas and principles but we haven’t really got into the nitty gritty techniques

to become efficient learners.

We’re now ready and we have the foundation to get into the science.

And then finally the techniques.

But in this section we learn some valuable lessons that are going to carry you throughout your career.

The first pillar that we learned was that everything is a game.

This idea that we should have a growth mindset that our brains are constantly evolving and we have control

over our lives.

We are a character in a game that can improve that can get experience that can get better and better

with effort and time.

We learned about this idea of having control over our lives that things that happened to us can be determined

by ourselves.

We have the control when we get a bad grade on a test or exam.

That is our fault.

We can improve that by making excuses on external factors that you have no control over.

We have no way to improve and by viewing everything as a game we are now a character in a game.

We take things less serious and we also learned that each obstacle that we encounter is an opportunity

for us to grow and try again the next time.

One failure doesn’t mean anything.

Ninety failures doesn’t mean anything.

Each time we get right back up and continue on with our game Next we learn about the Feynman technique

the idea that in order for us to really understand a topic we need to be able to explain it.

If you don’t understand something.

Ask questions.

If something is confusing to you.

Well then research it and understand it because we need to be able to get to a point where we can explain

it to a beginner because if we’re not able to explain something then we don’t truly understand it.

We then learned about the trunk based knowledge the idea that knowledge is constantly evolving the world

we live in is so fast paced that something that you learn now may not be relevant 10 years from now.

Instead we want to focus our knowledge on first creating the routes and the trunk.

The fundamental principles that last a long time that can be used 10 years from now to develop more

and more knowledge.

Finally we learned some good news that is that efficiency trumps grit.

It’s not about who works the hardest who puts in the most time.

It’s about who uses time efficiently.

It’s not about being busy but it’s about being efficient and knowing how to use the right strategies

to grow in the most optimal way.

By using these pillars we now have the foundation to really excel are learning and by keeping these

in the back of our minds.

Every time we encounter a new task a new challenge or we want to switch careers and learn a new skill

by using these pillars.

We now have a jumping off point a place where we can start to formulate a plan a plan of attack to learn

that new skill all right.

That’s a lot of talking for me.

I think it’s time for us to dive into the science.

What does the latest research tell us about learning and how to learn.

This is gonna be a fun one.

So stay tuned and I’ll see you in the next section.

Bye bye.
